More About Invisalign® Clear Aligners
During the consultation, we will determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign® by taking x-rays and performing a comprehensive examination using the most advanced dental technology. If we determine that Invisalign® can help you achieve your desired results, we will take impressions of your teeth and send those impressions to the Invisalign® lab.
The lab then constructs each set of aligners for your treatment. Our technology allows you to see how your teeth will gradually shift over time, and you can see your teeth-straightening journey before it begins. Invisalign® works much the same way as traditional braces; however, instead of using brackets, wires, and rubber bands (none of which are particularly pleasant!) to move teeth, a clear aligners system uses various materials. Each set of aligners is constructed to place light pressure on your teeth to gradually shift them into a straighter position.
Each set of aligners will be worn for the amount of time, and you will wear your aligners up to 22 hours each day. Your aligners will only be removed to eat, drink, and brush/floss your teeth. It’s important not to allow bacteria to build up on your clear aligners.
About every six weeks or so, you will visit the dentist to check your progress. Most patients take six to 24 months to complete their Invisalign® treatment, and after treatment is complete, you will wear a retainer for a set amount of time to keep your teeth from shifting. We will explain the entire process in more detail when you begin your Invisalign® transformation.
ClearCorrect® vs. Invisalign®
Dr. Perry and his team will explain the differences between traditional braces and clear aligners at your appointment.
ClearCorrect® aligners are thinner than Invisalign®, and can make them feel less sturdy.
Invisalign® uses computerized models of your teeth and 3-D printing technology to create clear aligners, resulting in a set of aligner trays manufactured to fit the patient’s teeth perfectly. The aligners are clear but made of thick material for securely holding your teeth.
ClearCorrect® also scans your mouth but uses a 3-D printer to create the models, a quick technique replacing the older method of making molds of your teeth, but can be less accurate.
After a comprehensive evaluation, Dr. Perry can let you know what will work best for you!
