At our Mount Vernon, WA dental office, we recently helped a patient who came to us hoping to recapture her smile from her younger years. She brought a photo from her past, asking if we could help her achieve that look again. Dr. Perry accepted the challenge, beginning a personalized treatment plan that spanned six months to give her back the smile she dreamed of.
Over the years, this patient experienced issues such as a noticeable gap between her front teeth, missing molars, and infections, which affected her overall comfort, confidence, and ability to chew. She wanted to close the gap, restore missing teeth, and enjoy a vibrant, natural-looking smile.
Treatment Path
The treatment journey began with addressing her overall oral health. First, we treated the infections, performing a root canal to save one tooth and removing another that could not be restored. To prevent her from feeling self-conscious about the missing tooth, our team designed a custom flipper using CEREC technology, which allowed us to create a 3D model of her mouth. The flipper filled the gap and included additional molars, giving her better chewing function and comfort.
The next step was restoring her upper teeth with zirconia crowns and a bridge to close the gap between her front teeth and address the missing molars. Zirconia was chosen for its strength, durability, and natural-looking finish that closely matches natural teeth.
Technology and Results
Our CEREC technology allowed us to create the flipper and crowns with exact precision, ensuring her restorations fit comfortably and naturally. Zirconia, known for its biocompatibility and resilience, gave her a beautiful and durable result.
Outcome
After six months of care, we were thrilled with the final result, and so was our patient. Her new smile reflects the bright, confident look she remembered, and she has expressed great satisfaction with her restored ability to enjoy meals and smile freely.
